About Sidsel Brix
More is at stake than decorative arrangements or meditative color studies. In Sidsel Brix’s work, we witness a kind of primal drama—where powerful forces collide, worlds collapse only to be reborn, and aggression is met by harmonizing elements in an ever-shifting balance of dominance.
Educated as an illustrator from Designskolen Kolding in 2005, I now work full-time as an artist from my studio and gallery in Aarhus.
As an illustrator, I have published a number of books—mainly for children and other attentive souls—including larger collections of fairy tales by H.C. Andersen and the Brothers Grimm.
In contrast to my figurative world as an illustrator, my paintings explore a more abstract realm—working with form, atmosphere, and light.
A third creative field I pursue is the integration of art into both private and public architectural spaces.
